Our school
supports students with disabilities from Prep through to year 12. We
are located at Nottingham Road, Calamvale in Brisbane’s south in the
Metropolitan Region of Department of Education. Our school opened in
January 1985, with an opening enrolment of 45 students and has
continued to grow at a steady rate to become one of the larger Special Schools
in Brisbane. The student catchment area is geographically very large, spreading
from Algester, Forestdale, Stretton and Beaudesert.
We are proud to be a Queensland
State Special School that provides learning experiences that are highly
personalised for students with complex educational needs in a safe, supportive
and caring environment.
All
classrooms in the school are air-conditioned, and have an interactive
whiteboard to enhance student learning and to promote the use of technology.
We are
fortunate to have beautiful grounds and great facilities including our own
swimming pool. Our goal is to develop student independence through providing a
diverse learning environment, which is rich in curriculum, challenging, safe
and supportive, happy and fun. We strive to create an environment that fosters
respect, independence, communication and the development of high self-esteem.
